[occ] Gabilhon
The remarkably preserved Vaudres stone cabins are the pride of the village. These huts built in dry stone without any frame defy time with their equilibrium. A 300 kg iron ore remnant exposed near the church reminds us of the proximity of the Cannons Road and the iron metallurgical past of this corner of the Périgord, one of the biggest producers of cannons in the kingdom and destined to equip the royal navy at Rochefort. The church of St Jacques dates from the 12th century.
